And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt. 28:18–20)

Baptism

Why be baptized?

Christ not only commands believers to get baptized, baptism is also a gift he graciously gives for our benefit and blessing.

Here then are three reasons to get baptized: (1) to obey Christ’s command,

Matthew 28:19

(2) to publicly profess faith in Christ,

Colossians 2:11-12

(3) to formally commit yourself to Christ and his people.

Acts 2:41

What is baptism, and why is it important?
